Abstract
The purpose of the present experiments was to find an efficient method to eliminate checking during the drying of hardwood by a vacuum process. An effective solution, found after repeated test runs, involved surface cooling of the timber between each heating and vacuum phase of the drying cycle.
Zussamenfassung
Zweck der vorliegenden Untersuchungen war es, ein wirksames Verfahren zu finden das Risse in Laubhölzern während der Vakuum-Trocknung verhindert. Nach mehreren Probetroknungen wurden eine Problemlösung gefunden, bei welcher eine Kühlung der Holzoberflächen zwischen jede Erwärmungs- und Trocknungsphase eingeschoben wurde.
