Summary

It is the aim of the Centre Technique du Bois, Paris, to secure and to maintain the important role of wood among other materials by constantly improving its quality. Testing methods, developed partially by the Centre Technique du Bois and employed in quality tests which it conducts, are described and explained. The testing of door surfaces and of various strength properties of these doors is dealt with. More—over the paper gives a detailed description of parquetry tests and of investigations on the air-proof and water-proof shutting of window-frames. The possibilities for quality control offered, are intended to bring about by constant application and, at the same time, bestowal of quality marks, quarantees to the consumers for the quality of manufactured wood products.
