Abstract
Several woods, bamboo, and kapok were extracted with ethanolbenzene and ethanol-cyclohexane, and the content of extracts was determined. The composition of the extractives obtained with both solvent mixtures was determined by gas chromatography. The percentage as well as the composition of the extractives showed no difference between the solvent mixtures applied. Thus benzene can be replaced by cyclohexane in extract determination without hesitation.
