Abstract

During the past few years, a large amount of geological information relating to Tyne and Wear County in N.E. England has been collected as part of a large mapping project. To cope with all this information, which is mainly in the form of borehole logs, a data system incorporating a databank and complementary documentation plans has been set up. The reasons for the particular system, and the methods used in forming it are set out.
