Reaction of primary thioamides withp-toluenesulfinic acid

Abstract

The conversion of thioamides to the corresponding 1,2,4-thiadiazoles occurs upon heating primary thioamides with formaldehyde andp-toluenesulfinic acid in water instead of the formation of N-(tosylmethyl)thioamides.
