Abstract
An unusual transformation has been discovered for α-bis(dimethylaminomethyleneamino)-β-cyano-β-nitroenamines under the action of various nucleophilic reagents into 4,6-bisdimethylamino-5-nitropyrimidine, the structure of which was confirmed by various physicochemical methods, including x-ray structural analysis. A possible mechanism for this conversion is proposed.
