Histiocytosis X with anterior mediastinal mass as its initial manifestation

Abstract

This is a report of an unusual case of histiocytosis X whose initial manifestation was a large anterior mediastinal mass. Although the initial histology of the excised tumor suggested histiocytosis X, this was not confirmed until obvious bone and skin lesions developed later.
