Pericardial calcification in a neonate secondary to chest tube

Abstract

A premature infant with resolving respiratory distress syndrome developed pericardial calcification at 12 days. The calcification may have resulted from a traumatic hemopericardium induced by the chest tube. The radiographic appearance was typical. The condition did not appear to compromise cardiac function.
