Abstract
Alkylidenedicyclohexanones I–III react with phosphorus pentasulfide in an inert solvent to form sym-octahydrothioxanthenes, which, under the influence of the acid products of the decomposition of phosphorus pentasulfide, are converted to perhydrothioxanthenes and sym-octahydrothioxanthylium salts.
