XL. Reaction of mercapto derivatives of azoles with haloquinones

Abstract

Mercapto derivatives of benzimidazole and imidazole undergo condensation with 2,3-dichloro-1,4-naphthoquinone to give 1,4-naphthoquinonyl derivatives, which can be cyclized to cdioxo derivatives of condensed azole systems.
