Abstract
2,4-Diary1-7,9-dimethyl-6,8-dioxo-2,3-dihydropyrimidino[5,6-b]-1,5-oxazepines are formed instead of the expected dihydrodiazepine derivatives in the reaction of chalcones with 5,6-diamino-1,3-dimethyluracil (I) in the presence of acetic acid. The reaction of 4-dimethylaminochalcone with diamine I leads to 8-(4′-dimethylaminophenyl)theophylline. A uracilyldihydrodiazepine derivative is formed only in the reaction of 2,6-di(4-anisylidene)cyclohexanone with diamine I. The structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed by the results of elementary analysis and the IR, UV, PMR, and mass spectra.
