Reaction of 1-aminobenzimidazoles with β-diketones. Synthesis of pyridazino[1,6-a]benzimidazoles

  • Published:
Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds Aims and scope

Abstract

The action of acetyl- and benzoylacetone on 1-aminobenzimidazoles in the presence of catalytic amounts of zinc chloride was used to synthesize 1-ylidene derivatives, which at higher temperatures undergo thermal cyclization to 2,4-disubstituted pyridazino[1,6-a]benzimidazoles.
