Abstract
The condensation of the potassium salt of thiazolidine-2,4-dione with bis(β-chloro-ethyl) sulfide leads to bis[β-(thiazolidine-2,4-dion-3-yl)ethyl]sulfide, which is readily oxidized by H2O2 to bis[β-(thiazolidine-2,4-dion-3-yl)ethyl]sulfoxide. Products of condensation of the latter with oxo compounds were obtained. The structures of the synthesized compounds were proved by their UV and IR spectra.
