Summary
A simple method for the preparation of silica immobilized 8-hydroxyquinoline is described. The resulting material is investigated for its affinity to copper, nickel, cobalt, iron(III), manganese(II), chromium(III), zinc, cadmium, lead and mercury(II). The metal uptake capacities were found in the range from 0.2 to 0.7 mmol/g, the distribution ratios in the range from 1000 up to > 90000.
