Summary

Applications of chemically-bound phases (RP-8, RP-18, Nitrilo, Phenyl, Diol on silicagel) to the separation of organic complexes of traces (element species) of Fe, Zn, Cu, Ni and Co [in the range of 20 ppb (Co in tea) to 15 ppm (Zn in coffee)] in various beverages are presented. The determination of these elements is carried out by differential pulse polarography. Besides comparison of the different bound phases (including comparison with ethyl-acetate-extractions) also information about the speciation of the metals determined — e.g. corresponding to concentration — is obtained and discussed.
