Abstract
The behavior of 5-amino-5-methyl-l,3-hexadiyne (I) during hydration and during the nucleophilic addition of alcohols and secondary amines was studied. Compound I was used to synthesize 2,2-dimethyl-2,3-dihydro-4-pyridone, 2,5,5-trimethyl-Δ2,3-dihydro-4-pyrrolone, and 4-substituted 2,5,5-trimethyl-Δ1,2,3,4-pyrroles.
