Abstract
Imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole and its alkyl, aryl, and 5,6-dihydro derivatives have been synthesized by the reaction of 2-mercapto derivatives of imidazole and imidazoline with α-halogenoaldehydes or their acetals. Imidazo-[2,1-b]thiazole has also been obtained by the decarboxylation of imidazo [2,1-b]thiazole-5-carboxylic acid.
