Abstract
Experiments on 14C-valine uptake by Phoronis psammophila Cori revealed polyphasic kinetics of uptake at external concentrations higher than 1.5 μM. This uptake displays seasonal variations, with a maximum in summer. In winter, increases in uptake are induced by preincubation in high amounts of amino-acids in the external medium; such increases are, however, inhibited by the action of cycloheximide.
