Abstract
The action of desoxycorticosterone-acetate (DOCA), hydrocortisone (cortisol) and adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH), upon the nitrogen and water-electrolyte excretion in some fishes (Gobius cephalarges, G. melanostomum and Trachurus mediterraneus) from the Black Sea was followed. In G. cephalarges and T. mediterraneus DOCA (at doses ranging from 1 to 10 mg/100 g body weight) lowered the urinary flow, inducing a water retention in the organism and a diminution of chloride elimination by the renal route. Simultaneously, DOCA induced a decrease of the total nitrogen excretion. The urinary azote concentration as well as the elimination of urea nitrogen by the renal route and the ammonia nitrogen elimination through the gills increased. Hydrocortisone, in doses of 1 to 21 mg/100 g body weight, increased the elimination of total nitrogen and caused water retention in the organism. Parallel to this, elimination of ammonia nitrogen decreased. ACTH (at a dosage of 1 to 4 IU/100 g body weight) had a stimulatory effect upon glucocorticoid activity, increasing the total nitrogen elimination, lowering the elimination of ammonia nitrogen, and inducing water retention in the organism.
Résumé
-
1.
