The aim of endodontic treatment is preservation of a tooth as a functional unit within a functioning dentition. A critical step in determination of a suitable treatment modality is arriving at an accurate diagnosis. A systematic approach for establishing a definitive endodontic diagnosis is essential as pulpal and periapical diseases are dynamic with a variety of signs and symptoms.
