Influence of Aging on Phenolic Resin Molding Materials

Thermoset molding materials become important when it comes to thermomechanical and chemical loads. The materials in this group are suitable for large-scale production, they are comparatively inexpensive and require little energy in production. Studies by Volkswagen and the Chemnitz University of Technology are paving the way for the use as a lightweight design material in series applications.

Thermomechanically Resilient Material

In recent years, the demand for materials resistant to chemicals and high temperatures combined with low density has been increasing, particularly in the automotive industry. Currently, this demand is mostly being covered by metals or technical thermoplastics and high-performance thermoplastics that in fact have excellent usage properties but that also can be very expensive and weighty.
