Conference on Technical Surfaces

The conference on technical surfaces ZVO Oberflächentage will take place in Leipzig, Germany from September 19 to 21, 2018. For the first time, the Central Association for Surface Technology (Zentralverband für Oberflächentechnik, ZVO) and lightweight.design are organizing a series of lectures on the topic of surface technology in the field of tension between lightweight construction materials. In doing so, the conference addresses a topic that has become increasingly important in recent years in the wake of increasing multi-material construction in the automotive industry. Among other things, the lectures will be devoted to the structuring of surfaces in the field of plastic-metal compounds or corrosion protection in mixed construction methods. The main aim of the ZVO Oberflächentage is the targeted networking of research and practice on the subject of electroplating and surface technology and the support of cross-industry communication. The opening up of new areas of application for electroplated coatings and the increasing demands on coated surfaces as well as the handling of new legal regulations at EU and national level are the core topics of the surface days. With 665 participants in Berlin, the annual Oberflächentage have established themselves as one of the leading forums for users, surface buyers, scientists, developers, designers, purchasers, QM and sales staff from all industrial sectors.

Wind Energy Hamburg

1400 exhibitors from all over the world present their portfolio for onshore and offshore wind energy at the Wind Energy Hamburg trade fair in Hamburg, Germany. Together with the global conference of Wind Europe, which takes place in parallel at the Messe Hamburg exhibition center, the fair forms the Global Wind Summit, the largest and most important meeting of the wind industry worldwide according to the organizer, Messe Hamburg. The spectrum of the trade fair covers the entire value-added chain and ranges from turbines, towers and foundations to gearboxes, generators and special ships. Exhibitor General Electric (GE) is currently working on the 12 MW direct drive Haliade X system. The turbine rotor measures 220 m in diameter and is equipped with 107 m long blades from LM Wind Power. The first systems of this type are scheduled for delivery in 2021. Such large rotors offer an increased energy yield, especially in weak wind conditions.

Materials-Science-and-Engineering 2018

Materials scientists and technicians from all over Europe will meet at the Materials- Science-and-Engineering-Congress (MSE) at the Technical University of Darmstadt in Germany from September 26 to 28, 2018. With more than 1500 participants, the convention is one of the largest international conventions in the field of materials science and technology in Europe. Numerous symposia and plenary lectures will discuss scientific and technical issues in materials science and technology. In an accompanying exhibition, companies will present their products, for example in the field of measurement technology. The host country this year is Argentina, which is represented by the Argentine Society for Materials (SAM Asociación Argentina de Materiales) and an Argentine-German committee, which is hosting a special symposium on the topic of Argentine-German cooperation in the field of materials science and technology. The congress is organized by the German Society for Materials Science (DGM).

Experience Additive Manufacturing

The Experience Additive Manufacturing (EAM) trade fair will take place in Augsburg, Germany from September 25 to 27, 2018. With its approach across processes, applications and materials, the organizer Messe Augsburg addresses companies from the aerospace, mobility and automotive, tool and mold making and medical and dental technology sectors in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The two partners Fraunhofer IGCV and the Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management (iwb) of the Technical University of Munich are organizing the 22nd Augsburg Seminar for additive manufacturing at the Augsburg Exhibition Center in parallel to the EAM. According to Messe Augsburg, the event is unique for its pronounced application orientation and structural mapping of the value-added chain of additive manufacturing through division into pre-, in- and post-processing.
