The installation space available for air cleaners is becoming smaller and smaller due to the integration of additional functions and increasing design requirements for vehicles. High efficiency targets also demand a low pressure drop from the air cleaner system. Mann+Hummel has developed an engine air cleaner concept for heavy-duty applications such as trucks, construction and agricultural machinery that provides a large filter surface even in confined spaces without compromising on pressure loss.

Filter Element

Depending on the requirements, filter elements for heavy-duty engines usually require a filtration surface area of between 2500 and 8000 cm² for each cubic meter of air taken in per minute. More filtration surface is added for operating conditions with high dust loads where a longer service life is a requirement. The filter element is the core of the filter system Exalife, which thanks to its special shape achieves an excellent relationship between service life or filtration...
