Highly Efficient Modular Crankcase Ventilation for Large Diesel Engines

Diesel engines with an output in the range of 1 to 5 MW place extensive demands on crankcase ventilation. A wide range of engines with low volumes requires a flexible system to handle blow-by gas while meeting the requirements with regard to high separation efficiency, compact installation spaces and low pressure drop. Mann+Hummel now presents a modular crankcase ventilation system which was specially developed to take into account the requirements for large high speed diesel engines.

Motivation

The increasing level of awareness with regard to environmental and health protection is leading to ever stricter emission limits. These limits are also valid for the high-speed diesel engines which are used in industry, mines and marine applications. In addition to exhaust emissions, emissions from the crankcase can significantly contribute to the total emissions of the engine.
