Walter Stauffenberg | Corrosion-resistant Hydraulic Line Components

When used in agricultural machinery, hydraulic line components, such as pipe and hose connections and mountings, need to fulfil high demands regarding corrosion resistance. In many cases, these components come into direct contact with aggressive substances from mineral fertilisers that contain phosphate or nitrogen. As there are no standards or other regulations that are mandatory for all manufacturers regarding the testing of resistance to fertilisers, many manufacturers carry out their own tests by exposing the components to fertiliser substances over defined periods of time, either in short periods or continuously. Due to the lack of reference data, the equipment supplier is then usually chosen on the basis of a visual comparison of the results.
