Maintenance-free sliding bearings in special-purpose vehicles

Conventional grease-lubricated plain bearing solutions require regular maintenance of the bearing system, which is associated with recurring lubrication intervals, high maintenance costs and regular downtime. The adoption of maintenance-free, self-lubricating sliding bearings from Federal-Mogul Powertrain enables the more productive, cost-effective and environmentally friendly operation of vehicles and machines.

Motivation

The continual use of nature and its finite resources makes it much more important to adjust our behaviour, our working methods and the products used so that the impact on the environment is minimised [1]. In Germany alone, around one million tons of lubricants are used every year. Their manufacture, use and disposal are subject to strict regulations to limit potential negative effects [2].
