New Mixer Transmissions for Truck Mixers

Transmissions of truck mixers are exposed high stresses through the on- and off-road use. The mixer transmissions must be designed to carry heavy loads and at the same time be able to transmit high torques of up to 6000 Nm/m3. Additionally, the drum drive is required to be flexible in order to compensate vehicle torsions. The latest generation of ZF Ecomix series type CML (Concrete Mixer low-speed) for truck mixers up to 16 m3 mixing capacity and an output torque of up to 90,000 Nm meets these requirements.

Disadvantages of Conventional Systems

Conventional mixer transmissions are driven by high-speed-hydro motors (axial piston motors) with speeds up to 2500 rpm. Due to the high speed a relatively high noise level is reached. Additionally, the planetary gears must be designed with a high ratio of normally i ≥ 100 and with two or three planetary stages. The hydro motors are to be ordered separately by the mixer vehicle manufacturer and to be mounted to the mixer transmission...
