Design Methodology for Topology Optimization of Dynamically Loaded Structure

This paper investigates the application of topology optimization to a complexly loaded structure. Specifically, a time-dependent impact scenario is considered for conversion using a weighted compliance method and input into the topology optimization software, OptiStruct. The weights on the weighted compliance are varied using a modified extensible lattice sequence to understand any overlap in load steps and their impact on the overall objective function.
