Daimler | CATL | Battery Modules for Electric Trucks

Daimler Trucks & Buses and the battery manufacturer Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) have entered into a global supply agreement for battery modules for electric-powered production trucks. CATL will supply lithium- ion battery modules for a wide range of models that will go into volume production in 2021, including the Mercedes-Benz eActros, the Freightliner eCascadia, and the Freightliner eM2. Daimler will develop the battery modules and assemble them at its Mercedes-Benz plant in Mannheim (Germany) and its US factory in Detroit. The e-mobility group at Daimler Trucks & Buses, which was established in 2018 to pool the company's expertise in the field of electric mobility, is currently developing a standardized worldwide electric architecture that is comparable with the global platform strategy for conventional vehicles.
