48-V P2 Module for Transverse Engines - From Layout to Implementation
- 25 Downloads
In a cooperation project, AVL and Hyundai have integrated a 48-V P2 module into a SUV with a 2.2-l diesel engine and eight-speed automatic transmission. This configuration improves driving performance, reduces fuel consumption and opens up the possibility of driving purely electric.
The next levels of legislative CO2regulation will require a combination of engine-related measures and electrification. The introduction of 48-V architectures will play a crucial role in this. It already offers a potential for the recuperation of electrical energy and limited electrical driving for significantly lower costs than full hybrid solutions and hence creates a considerable opportunity to save fuel in the WLTC [1, 2]. The extension of a diesel vehicle with a cost-effective 48-V mild hybrid system with a P2 configuration, which can be integrated into existing vehicle concepts with low effort together with the integration of an electric catalytic converter with 4 kW power, is...
