Deibler Joins MMA Editorial Team

Dr. Lisa Deibler, Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, New Mexico, has joined the Metallography, Microstructure, and Analysis (MMA) editorial staff as associate editor, announced Dr. Ryan Deacon, editor of MMA. “I am pleased to share that Dr. Lisa Deibler has joined the editorial staff of Metallography, Microstructure, and Analysis as an Associate Editor. Dr. Deibler’s breadth of experience in metallography and materials characterization will be an invaluable addition to our editorial team. Furthermore, her enthusiasm for helping others, and her passion for materials science, will be a great asset for our authors, reviewers, and readers, as well as the rest of the editorial team. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Deibler to MMA.”

Dr. Deibler is a senior member of the technical staff at Sandia National Laboratories. She earned her B.S. in Materials Science Engineering at Washington State University, followed by her Masters and Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University. She was a postdoctoral appointee at Sandia National Laboratories where she studied recrystallization in 304L stainless steel.

Since becoming the staff member in charge of Sandia’s metallography lab in 2013, Dr. Deibler has overseen the lab as it prepares and analyzes samples of any material that is needed by Sandia’s workforce, including metals, ceramics, circuit boards, polymers, and various connectors and assemblies. She divides her time amongst providing support for component engineers as they design and manufacture metal containing parts, failure analysis, and metallurgical research. She has worked on recrystallization in stainless steel, ambient temperature creep in metal alloys, powder bed laser additive manufacturing of aluminum, stress relaxation in springs over long lifetimes, and mechanical properties of solder joints.
