Wetlands and lakes are diverse in origin and form with multifunctional roles in delivering ecosystem services for human well-being. Coexistence of diverse form of animals and plants is a redundant attribute of the freshwater wetlands and lakes contributing to equivalently diverse ecological functions. Information on the wetlands is useful in understanding the functions and framing the strategies for the conservation for sustainable use of resources thriving therein. In comparison to the information on the wetlands around the globe, few books are available in Indian context. The present book is one such example where the information on the wetlands are provided in both concise and revealing forms that may be useful for the purpose of conservation and sustainable use of the resources thriving therein.
