High-temperature interactions in slag-metal steelmaking baths influenced by low-voltage application were analyzed. Different temperatures were tested with a laboratory-scale induction furnace and a top-blown oxygen converter, as well as with an industrial 160-t converter. The effects of low voltage application of different polarity on the slag formation, metal loss to iron oxides, temperature change, and metal composition are discussed.
