The 2017 International Conference on Social Science, Public Health and Education (SSPHE 2017) has been successfully held from May 5 to 6, 2017, in Guangzhou, China. One of the main themes of the scientific meeting is environmental pollution and energy management. Accordingly, a special issue on these subjects is edited.

This special issue collects 12 papers on several facets of environmental pollution and energy management, among which are two articles with topics regarding decision-making for pollution control and energy efficiency evaluation. Moreover, there are four papers focusing on low-carbon and carbon emission reduction issues, while another one compares siting and sizing of distributed generators using an optimization approach. In the last part of this special issue, articles are concentrating on environmental pollution investigation designed to assess human and environmental impact of pollutants.

Overall, the articles presented in this special issue provide some interesting aspects to bridge the different fields of environmental pollution, energy management, and health concern, which are constructive for the consideration of further study. Authors and reviewers are greatly acknowledged for their contributions.
