In the “Comments on: Correlations Between Slake-Durability Index and Engineering Properties of Some Travertine Samples Under Wetting–Drying Cycles by Fereidooni and Khajevand, Geotechnical and Geological Engineering (2018) 36:1071–1089”, three different comments on both the dataset and data analysis are reported by Jamshidi and Sarikhani, Geotechnical and Geological Engineering (2019), https://doi.org/10.1007/s10706-019-01008-7. In comment 1, it is stated that unlike clay minerals, Aragonite, Calcite, Quartz and Hematite are non-sensitive to cycles of drying and wetting in slake-durability test in natural water with pH of 7. Therefore, this test is not applicable for rocks containing the minerals.
It must be said that the slake-durability test was presented for the first time by Franklin and Chandra (1972) to evaluate the weathering resistance of shales, mudstones, siltstones and other clay-bearing...
