The development of sustainable environment needs good structuring, planed investigation and removal of environmental pollutants from the contaminated sites through eco-friendly approaches. The management of high-strength wastewaters generated from domestic, industrial and commercial sources is a major challenge worldwide. Microorganisms can be used as eco-friendly tools to solve these environmental issues. Besides these, many other natural agents such as plants, microbial enzymes, vermitechnology, nanoparticles and biochar can also be used effectively for the safe management of industrial wastes.
