Consensus conference on European preparedness for haematological and other medical management of mass radiation accidents

A consensus conference on the medical management of mass radiation accidents was held by the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT), the Institute for Radioprotection and Nuclear Safety (France) and the University of Ulm (Germany) at Vaux de Cernay Abbey (France) on October 25–27, 2005.
This consensus on the diagnosis and treatment strategy in the event of accidental overexposure to ionising radiation has been established by a working group of 65 physicians and health ministry representatives from the 25 European Union countries with representation from the fields of haematology, radiopathology and dosimetry.
