Abstract

The year 1830 evokes above all the days of insurrection in Paris, better known by the name of the “three glorious days”. In this year of 1830 there also took place in Paris a conflict that disrupted the scientific world. At this period, in fact, at the Académie Royale des Sciences, for several months, two professors of the Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle, Etienne Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire and Georges Cuvier, were in dispute. Their discussions are known by the name of the “quarrel of the analogues”.
