Abstract

The ground surface topography and Abbott-Firestone curve of common grinding (CG) and ultrasonic assisted grinding (UAG) are compared and analyzed. The results show that the parameter values R k , R pk , and R vk of the Abbott-Firestone curve in UAG are smaller than those in CG, which indicates that the ground surface generated by ultrasonic assisted grinding has a shorter running-in phase and a superior bearing performance in a steady state, yet the lubrication properties will become worse compared with the surface generated by common grinding. Moreover, it has been found that R k first decreases and then increases while R pk and R vk monotonically decrease with the increase of the vibration amplitude.
