Structures of mail questionnaires: Statistical test of alternatives

Abstract

The physical structure of a mail questionnaire can influence the internal consistency of logically interrelated answers. The study reported here shows that it is possible to build experimental designs into routine survey work. Such tests help to determine the efficiency of alternative questionnaire structures.
