    A ten year old girl was admitted to hospital suffering from upper motor paralysis.

  2. (2)

    Consideration of the signs, symptoms and progress of the case indicates that this was a mild but extensive case of posterior poliomyelitis, restricted to the middle motor neurone, with which the upper motor neurone synapses.
