The place of clinical chemistry in the detection of cancer

Summary

THE aetiology of neoplasia, where relevant to the possible detection of cancer by clinical chemical methods, is reviewed. Both established clinical chemical tests, and techniques presently under development, for the detection of cancer are summarised using a biochemical classification of neoplasia. The discriminant function technique and the practicability of present and future population screening for cancer are also discussed.
