A simple urine-test to prove the intake of disulfiram
- 19 Downloads
Disulfiram is rapidly metabolised in the human body. Therefore the tests, proposed in the literature, always depend upon the detection of one of the metabolites. This paper describes a simple urine-test, based on the detection of the S-glucuronide of diethyldithiocarbamate. Carbon disulphide is liberated from this glucuronide by acid hydrolysis and is then detected by a colorimetric method. The test is positive until 24 hours after oral intake of a normal dose of disulfiram (200–250 mg, once a day).
