Modulated electron spectrum of the light scattered by a magnetized arc plasma

Measuring the spectrum of laser light scattered by a magnetized arc plasma (ne=1.2 × 1016 cm−3,Te=3.2 eV, α=0.6,Bz=120 kG) we observe deviations from the normal thermal spectrum. The observed modulation is most probably due to the influence of the magnetic field. Two other less likely possibilities (enhanced electron oscillations or the existence of an additional colder electron component) are discussed.
