Reactions of phthalodinitrile with aromatic diamines in polyphosphoric acid

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    During the reaction of 1-methoxy-3-iminoisoindole and phthalodinitrile with m- and p-phenylenediamine in PPhA, no macroheterocycle is formed.

  2. 2.

    During the reaction of 1-methoxy-3-iminoisoindole and phthalodinitrile with anthranilic acid in PPhA, compounds are formed which contain isoindole and quinazoline rings.
