Simultaneous determination of the adsorption and the IR absorption spectrum in adsorption systems

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    A high vacuum cell has been constructed which can be used for simultaneously recording adsorption isotherms and IR absorption spectra in adsorption systems.

  2. 2.

    Heating under irradiation during the recording of the IR spectra (temperatures the order of 75°C) leads to thermal desorption, the magnitude of this effect varying with the degree of saturation of the sorption space.

  3. 3.

    In the NaA zeolite-water vapor system, the band for H2O molecule deformation vibrations shows a fine structure at adsorptions of 5 mmoles/g or greater.
