Reaction of zinc fluoride hydrate with hydrogen peroxide

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    In contrast to K, Rb, and Cs fluorides, which form products of addition of H2O2 to the metal fluoride, depending on the conditions the hydrate of zinc fluoride either does not react with hydrogen peroxide or replaces the fluoride ion by a peroxy group with formation of zinc peroxide.

  2. 2.

    It is shown that zinc peroxide may be formed in an acid medium.
