Selectivity of chromium oxide catalysts in dehydrogenation of n-hexane

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    The selectivity of various chromium oxide catalysts in the reaction for the dehydrogenation of n-hexane is greater the greater their total dehydrogenating activity, and the lower their activity in the reaction for the conversion of the alkenes to alkadienes.

  2. 2.

    Hydrogen increases the selectivity of chromium oxide catalysts in the reaction for the dehydrogenation of n-hexane, while nitrogen lowers it. The amount of alkenes increases in the presence of H2, while in the presence of N2, in contrast, the amount of alkenes decreases, and the amount of alkadienes increases.
