Study of ferrocyanides by the method of nuclear γ resonance


  1. 1.

    The nuclearγ resonance (NGR) spectra of 29 ferrocyanides of iron with various cations outside the sphere were taken.

  2. 2.

    The data obtained indicate that the electronic structure of the iron atom in low-spin complexes with strongπ-bonding depends little upon the cations of the outer coordination sphere. Intensification of the polarizing action leads to a decrease in δ, chiefly on account of action upon theπ-orbitals of the complex, leading to a decrease in the electron density close to the iron atom and a decrease in the shielding of the s-electrons by the 3d- and 4p-electrons. The influence of the axial component of the crystalline field of the third coordination sphere upon the electronid structure of the iron atom can be neglected.
