Conclusions

  1. 1.

    Reactions of 2-amino-4-hydroxy-6-methylpyrimidine with propylenechlorohydrin andα-monochlorohydrin of glycerol results in the formation of the corresponding 2-amino-3- (hydroxyalkyl)-3,4-di-hydro-6-methylpyrimidones-4.

  2. 2.

    2-Amino-3- (β,γ-dihydroxypropyl)-3,4-dihydro-6-methylpyrimidone-4 on heating undergoes a cyclization to 2,3-dihydro-2-hydroxymethyl-7-methyl-5H-oxazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidin-5-one.
